KS1

What should we eat?

This screen introduces the concept of food groups and we need to eat a variety of different types of food for different functions in the body. It provides information and has an interactive element asking pupils to drag the pictures to match the appropriate text. Explain to pupils that meals should contain a mixture of food groups and use the PDF to allow them to draw a meal they would like to eat that contains a suitable selection of foods. Persuade pupils to have a healthy mixture of foods with possibly fruit for desert. Remind pupils to drink water too. Encourage pupils to take their work home and discuss with their parents or guardians what they like about their meal and why it is healthy.
